With the goal of high-quality development, China’s wind power industry is pushing the entire industry chain, led by the complete machine companies, to improve its market competitiveness and consolidate its position as a technology leader in the global wind power market.
Recently, Sany Heavy Energy and Goldwind Technology, China’s leading wind power companies, have visited Europe and visited SKF’s European factories, holding meetings with the top management of SKF Group headquarters to discuss new technologies and new business models in the wind power industry and discuss the new future of high-quality development in the wind power industry.
Create and win together with Sany Heavy Energy
Winning the new era of wind power price parity!
On April 17, Li Qiang, Director and General Manager of Sany Heavy Energy, visited SKF Group headquarters and toured SKF Gothenburg’s fully automated carbon-neutral plant. Annika Olme, Senior Vice President and CTO of SKF Group, and Li Xuesheng, Director of SKF China Wind Power Business Unit, received the delegation and had an in-depth exchange and discussion with Li Qiang and his delegation on topics such as the development of the global wind power market, the competitiveness of wind turbines in the era of price parity, and the reliability and intelligent innovation of wind power drive chain technology.
“Focusing on smart and clean growth, SKF insists on empowering the accelerated development of the new energy industry represented by wind power with advanced technologies, contributing to forging a zero-carbon future for the wind power industry. China is an important driver in leading the development of new technologies and new energy, and is also an important market in the wind power sector, which has always been at the centre of SKF’s strategic development. We are looking forward to working in depth with outstanding wind power OEMs from China to accelerate the global renewable energy transition together.”

Christian Zang, Head of SKF’s Global Wind Power Spindle Competence Center, gave a comprehensive introduction to the Sany Heavy Energy delegation on the development of SKF’s global wind power business, sharing SKF’s systematic understanding of products, testing, applications and engineering based on the wind power drive chain, demonstrating SKF’s breakthrough innovations in new products, new processes and intelligence, as well as SKF’s product development in the next generation of SKF’s product development and test and verification capabilities for next-generation main bearing products.
SKF has maintained a close and strong partnership with Sany Heavy Energy since 2008 and has been involved in the design and development of all Sany Heavy Energy units from 1.5 MW to 11 MW over the years. Looking ahead, the two companies look forward to more cooperation and exploration in areas such as large megawatt wind turbines and offshore wind turbines, enabling the development of China’s and the world’s wind power industry with forward-looking technology.
Partnering with Goldwind
Leading the development of wind turbine technology one step further!
After leaving Sany Heavy Energy at its Gothenburg plant, SKF’s Schweinfurt plant in Germany welcomed Goldwind, with whom SKF has had a strategic partnership for nearly 30 years. In the afternoon of April 20, local time, Aldo Cedrone, Regional President of SKF Group Industrial Sector, Li Xuesheng, Director of SKF China Wind Power Business Unit and the team warmly received five people including Cao Zhigang, Director and President of Goldwind Technology, and Xue Naichuan, Vice President and General Manager of Goldwind Technology Wind Power Industry Group. The Goldwind team visited SKF’s German factory and the German test centre, which has one of the most advanced wind turbine test rigs in the world, and expressed their affirmation of SKF’s focus on innovation in technology and process. Both sides shared their insights and outlook on topics such as innovation in cutting-edge wind turbine technology and global market layout.
“Deeply involved in the wind power industry for many years, SKF has always insisted on ‘reliable operation’ as the goal, technology iteration and innovation as the driving force, and global resources overlaid with localized layout as the guarantee, helping global wind power enterprises to enhance their competitiveness. China is the world’s largest market in terms of installed wind power capacity, and the pioneers in the Chinese wind power industry are also leading the global wind power industry in terms of technological innovation. SKF is willing to continue to use its global experience and technical capabilities to help more Chinese wind power companies accelerate their global presence.”

With the trend of larger wind turbines, the reliability of the wind turbine drive train is also more demanding. SKF said it will continue to carry out in-depth research and development of new products for the next generation of wind turbine units, striving to achieve reliability while meeting the demand for technical cost reduction, and helping customers build the competitiveness of the wind turbine drive train in the era of affordable prices. Goldwind expects that through the cooperation with SKF, global experience, local needs and innovative technology will be effectively combined, and the two sides will further strengthen strategic cooperation in areas such as plain bearing development, technology cost reduction, quality assurance and drive train testing, leading the development of wind turbine technology one step further.
Based on the new era of wind power industry development, SKF, as a pioneer in the wind power field, will continue to focus on “smart and clean” and strengthen its local technical capabilities with its advanced technology, products, knowledge and experience, in response to the “era of wind power price parity” and “offshore era”, In response to the new demand for transmission chain development in the “era of price parity” and “offshore era” of wind power, SKF will adhere to reliable operation and forge a new future for the high-quality development of the wind power industry.
